Amid the growing global influence of K-culture, including K-pop and K-dramas, and the rising international interest in Korean beauty, a new K-beauty product inspired by Seoul's iconic N Seoul Tower has been released.
According to recent industry reports, JL Cosmetic, the operator of the makeup brand MAKE SOUL, has launched ‘NAMSAN 480,’ a color cosmetics brand inspired by the Seoul landmark. Its flagship product, ‘NAMSAN 480 GLOW TINT,’ is now officially available.
The number ‘480’ in the brand name represents the total altitude of 480 meters—the combined height of Namsan Mountain's summit and the N Seoul Tower itself. It signifies a beauty inspired by the highest point in Seoul. Notably, the brand is drawing significant attention as a representative K-beauty icon developed through an official licensing agreement with N Seoul Tower.
The ‘NAMSAN 480 Glow Tint’ features a sophisticated package design inspired by the silhouette of Namsan Tower. It was designed to serve as a symbolic beauty item for global consumers, offering a unique way to experience K-culture. The product is a glossy lip tint characterized by its hydrated glow and natural pigmentation. It also contains plant-derived PDRN, a trending ingredient in the beauty market, to ensure a comfortable and soothing feel on the lips.
“It is deeply meaningful to introduce a beauty product inspired by N Seoul Tower, a symbol of Seoul at the heart of K-culture,” said Choi Hye-young, CEO of MAKE SOUL. “NAMSAN 480 Glow Tint goes beyond being just a cosmetic; it is a K-beauty item that captures the emotion and beauty of Seoul to provide a new experience for global consumers.” She added, “As a brand that combines Seoul’s symbolic value with K-beauty technology, we plan to nurture it into a competitive product in both domestic and international markets.”
This launch is significant as a prime example of the synergy between Seoul’s cultural symbols and the K-beauty industry. Industry experts are closely watching whether this landmark-inspired brand can create a new narrative for K-beauty in the global market.
Analysts suggest that with the sustained global interest in K-culture and K-beauty, the ‘NAMSAN 480’ brand—which blends the symbolism of Seoul with authentic storytelling—has high potential to establish itself as a distinctive K-beauty brand for international consumers.
